This is where we dig in and I get to answer YOUR most asked questions about the business! They come up constantly and here is the full download so you can decide see if you see yourself within the Beautycounter story! The same questions tend to come up over and over so and I hope these answers help to show you what life with Beautycounter is really like!
HERE ARE THE TOP 6 QUESTIONS ASKED!
I have never “sold anything” before how do you do it?
How did YOU find the time?
Can you really make money with Beautycounter?
What made you finally say YES?
Do your feel like those “other” companies?
Do you really love the products?
1. I've never "sold anything" before. How do you do it?
You see I was never going to “sell” anything. But the story with Beautycounter was different, I wasn’t saying “Buy my red lipstick!”, I was saying “Did you know lead (yes, like lead paint) is allowed to go into our lip sticks?” And that is how I could always start the conversation, with education or a did you know.
It wasn’t just about selling, it was about empowering and educating and then giving a solution through high performing products. People WANTED this information and I was happy to help them open the door to making better choices for themselves and their families. So I kept starting conversations & sharing the products I loved!
And you can see in this article from Fast Company that we are really catching on in a big way and how this is so much more than “selling” a product. Beautycounter has created a movement.
2. How did YOU find the time for this?
Time. We are busy, time starved and have “to do” lists a mile long! With Beautycounter you can devote 1 hour, 5 or 10+ hours a week. The choice is yours and the beautiful thing is that it is flexible. After being in the business for 3 years, sometimes I work 10 hours a week and sometimes 20 but it is usually somewhere in the middle. But the day I said YES, I was BUSY TO THE MAX! This is what my life looked like at the time.
When I first started Beautycounter, I worked full time, was raising 2 kids and we had two restaurants going at the time so I knew busy. BUT what I knew was that I wanted to do this because I couldn’t NOT SHARE this information! So I worked Beautycounter into conversations, dropped off samples on my lunch hour and of course always had products with me so that I could share in public! The conversation was always there, if I sitting at dance practice with my daughter or taking our son to a play day at the park it was always top of mind to share with others and the conversation always came up. Because that is what we do as women, we share. Share our favorite clothes, smoothie recipes, remedies and what we love! I always listen to what my girlfriends are gushing over because that is who we trust!
So again, the time choice is yours. We all have the same hours in the day and get done what is a priority to us. But who I find does the best with Beautycounter are busy people. Why? Because busy people tend to get shit done! They know what they want and how to fit it in because at the end of the day we all know we do what we want and get done what is important for us. So I decided to work in Beautycounter as just a conversation, a solution to others and a resource and opportunity. That is how I work the business into my life.
3. Can you really make money with Beautycounter?
Yes! 100% Yes!!! And before you take my word for it let me show you this! This is our Income Disclosure Statement and gives you a range of what earnings look like!
What I loved is that you can make money two ways. By selling and/or by building a team (and let’s back up...I really had no idea what “building a team” looked like for me). Immediately I saw you can make 25-35% commission on what I sold! Yeah baby, no hidden, tricky comp plan. Straight cash. We have a pay for performance compensation plan. You get paid on what you sell and how well your teammates do. But what I saw in Beautycounter is the long game, knowing that I could build a long term, sustainable business with a company that was disrupting an entire industry and leading the charge as the new beauty!! I love working with women, getting to know them and helping them build a business. I knew I could do that. “That” being support, lead and encourage women to have conversations on a topic that mattered. I knew business, from our past brick and mortar businesses we owned (restaurants and health and wellness stores) and saw the opportunity in front of me and I jumped in, with both feet!
That is the part I really love today, working with teammates to create a successful business how it looks to them. Whether you want to earn a couple hundred dollars a month, pay for your next vacation or go straight to the top! You can do it all! And believe me, if it has worked for me, I know it can work for you. I love building and creating leaders and now I am leading hundreds of women in the clean beauty movement. The have build businesses where they take their families on vacation, get to stay home with their babies or leave their careers for Beautycounter!
On top of making money, Beautycounter always does fun incentives. You can earn amazing incentive vacations...ahem AMAZING!!! The ones I have earned have been to the Four Seasons Biltmore, Ojai Valley Inn, The Breakers Palm Beach, just to name a few:) You can earn free products, cash prizes, Beautycounter Swag and awesome products like Clare V. bags, Dogeared and Parker Thatch handbags for promotional prizes! Beautycounter knows how to do it right!
Beautycounter does not offer rewards such as winning car leases or break away compensation plans.
As a family we have always had the entrepreneurial bug, from starting restaurants, to having design businesses to even a jewelry start up. I love the freedom it gives you and whenever I can bet on myself, I do! From day one I saw the opportunity with Beautycounter. If you can see yourself in Beautycounter, want to know more or just start a conversation, let’s talk!!!
4. What made you finally say YES?
I am a “jump first and I will figure it out later kind” of gal. But ultimately what made me say yes was this. I was floored that someone hadn’t share Beautycounter with me sooner!!! Where was this conversation, this information? HELLO?!?!…the stats floored me…no Federal Regulation since 1938, WTF! Are you kidding me?? I felt in the dark that I had never heard about these amazing products before or these crazy stats and I never wanted any women to feel like they were left in the dark. So I decided I was going to be part of the conversation, help start the conversation of how to switch to safer and WHY for those I loved and cared about.
The mission and movement made be say YES but the minute I tried the products I was sold. I loved the products. They worked, they were beautiful and they were safe. As a beauty junkie most my life, I knew high performing products and I wasn’t going to say yes to Beautycounter unless the products were the bes of the best. And they were! The opportunity I saw was in conversations and knew that I could talk about Beautycounter. Because the conversation was different, I never felt like I was selling anything because it was education first, products second. The conversation wasn’t “Buy my red lipstick” it was “Did you know LEAD is allowed to go into our lipstick?!” I could start that conversation any day of the week. And guess what, everyone listened, they wanted to know more and the conversation always continued!
And that is how I built a business, through having conversations that mattered. I was giving people information, better choices through products and sharing my experience of switching to safer for myself and family. (if you want to see the full story go here…link to how i switched to safer - link to the other section of beauty and the why...thoughts on this or do you not want to take away from this story)
And this was the icing on the cake for me. The fact that we are creating a movement that is going all the way to Washington DC. We are making change for everyone by advocating through our brand to make an impact on your family and creating a safer industry for everyone so that someday, we can live in a world where we don’t have to turn our bottles over and wonder if they are safe or not!
5. Do your feel like those “other” companies?
Never. I truly don’t. Because I know I am sharing valuable information. Helping someone discover a new resource or help their child use a body lotion that doesn’t contain 75 ingredients or just sharing products I love. Because that is what we do as women, we share what we know and love.
The conversation was never “Buy my red lipstick” the conversation was “Did you know lead is allowed in our lipstick because there are basically no laws governing our cosmetics industry.” Education first, product second. And that felt good, no other company has a mission like ours or has created a movement. People view me as a resource, not a salesperson. This company was built on conversations that matter around products that are amazing and a mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone. That is why I can talk about Beautycounter all day.
6. Do you really love the products?
The first day I tried Beautycounter I fell in love, honestly. It was the first thing I said to my friend who introduced me…I said, “Safe is great...but do they work?” And then oh boy...did they!! They performed, felt amazing and I loved the branding, oh so beautiful! At that moment I found a one stop shop with Beautycounter! The products felt so good on my skin, the skin care was fresh and made my skin feel amazing and the makeup stayed put! In the past I have used everything from Clinique to Lancome, Nars to Mac, Dior to YSL and Laura Mercier. And then I tried Beautycounter it performed just as good, if not better than the brands I used in the past. It was a marriage of Whole Foods meet Chanel and I loved it!
